Google Earth maps out discrimination against burakumin caste in Japan: The Times.

The Times, has an interesting story today:“Google Earth maps out discrimination against burakumin caste in Japan” Well it’s a surprise to me that an unfortunate caste amongst the citizenry of Japan is still suffering racism, I have heard of this before but I never thought it was as bad as reported. Racism can also emerge with descendants from former Japanese colonies and foreigners from other Asian countries also experience racism. The Burakumin, apparently look no different to other Japanese and yet suffer an age old discrimination. Likewise this racism is the same for the Ryukyuan people; Korean people; Chinese and Taiwanese people;Ainu; racism also extends to just foreigners and Black people.

It is astonishing but it also goes to show that racism is widespread and you will probably find it in all cultures; what is important though is that racism and caste needs to be combatted and challenged wherever racism and caste appears.
