Cabinet ministers press Gordon Brown for radical shakeup of politics: The Guardian.

Gordon Brown is under pressure  from  his cabinet to reform parliament:

Patrick Wintour, THE GUARDIAN: “What the modernisers inside the cabinet want on the agenda is:

• A referendum on electoral reform for the House of Commons.

• An elected upper house.

• Spending caps on donations to political parties.

• A widening of the base from which candidates are drawn.

Problem is given the names of those mentioned: Lord Mandelson, Harriet Harman, James Purnell and David Milliband these guys don’t exactly match any image as mordernisers they tend to reinforce traditional responses. So I remain cautious about stories like this.
