DNA Paranoids.

Not only do we have people whop lose sleep over ID cards we also have people who lose sleep over DNA records in the National DNA Database. By the end of 2005 over 3.4 million DNA profiles were held on the database – the profiles of the majority of the known active offender population.” These individuals are “active known offenders” and quite often cold cases are these days often resolved using the National DNA Database, surely this is a good development as sometimes the innocent who may have been wrongly jailed can be found innocent and the guilty punished.

There is a very strong argument for a compulsory national DNA database, this I would favour as it would be a useful resource for solving criminal cases. I think most decent people in the UK would agree. Once again organizations like Liberty get into an awful state of mind, worrying about the implications on the innocent.

The representatives of Liberty worry too much and perhaps need to consider the bigger picture.

I sincerely hope for your sake that you are never falsely accused, arrested or harassed by the police when you are innocent. I often find that people who take your position do so because you think it will “never happen to me”. There is nothing more frightening than being arrested and harassed by the police when you know you’re innocent. It should be of growing concern to everyone in the political arena that the police now seem to be arresting anyone with political views the establishment don’t like. The bigger picture is one where starting with ID cards in Germany med to executions in Autchwitz. It is for the state to PROTECT me not HARASS me and it is my right as an innocent human being not to have fundamental parts of my being stored on a database if I have commited no crime.

Not really, I think you meant Auschwitz, rather than Autchwitz! Fascist regimes don’t need ID cards. Law abiding citizens need have nothing to fear. Democracy relies on the rule of law, the police do not arrest willy nilly.

“the police do not arrest willy nilly”.

I’m afraid they bloody well do! I really hope you never go through what I did.
