Ed Balls pledges child protection overhaul – Society – guardian.co.uk

Lord Laming must be getting very frustrated that few people are listening.

We have been here before, it is quite obvious that many local authorities have failed in their duty of care towards vulnerable children. Since the death of “Baby P” and, the child is still denied a name, there been several reported cases of failure of local children’s services. The message has got to get through to those right at the top of local authorities – are you completely satisfied that vulnerable children in your care are getting the support they need.  Funding must be made available for recruitment, retention and training of social work staff responsible for child care.

I remain pessimistic, I’m sure as night follows day, we will still have yet more Victoria Climbe ad “Baby P” cases.
