Comment on the Week’s News.

Last week’s earthquake, 5.3 on the Richter scale in Lincolnshire, was the source of humour for some media outlets; whilst it’s true the scale of damage was slight in comparison to earthquakes overseas; nevertheless, it could have been a different story had it occurred during the morning rush hour.

The media seems to be in a frenzy of excitement as Prince Harry returns from Afghanistan having done his service. It’s not a bad idea to have princes serving in active duty and doing their share.

Russia decides today on its new president and it seems likely that Dmitri Medvedev may be the successful candidate, can we hope that there will be a thaw in relations and that the nasty rhetoric of the Putin era will pass, seems unlikely but we can only hope.

The Democratic presidential race continues as especially Texas and Ohio are seen as crucial in Mrs Clinton’s failing campaign. If she fails to score the majority of delegates on offer then she will only have herself to blame for making the campaign nasty and bitter.

This is the last entry for the next 5 weeks as we are preparing for our journey to the USA during which we hope to research more on political developments and the presidential race.
