A Matter of Principle.

The forthcoming European Union – Africa Union Summit due to take place in Lisbon is bogged down in bitterness in regard to Mugabe’s expected appearance at the meeting. Some 14 African countries are instructing European leaders not to speak about conditions in Zimbabwe. Perhaps the time has come for 14 African presidents to realize human rights, good governance and democracy matters. They should be told that if they continue to block actions towards ending Mugabe’s rule in Zimbabwe they are not welcome to attend. There can be no compromise with dictatorship; these 14 countries enjoy international aid. Perhaps the time has come to stop aid going to states appeasing and supporting Mugabe’s fascist rule in Zimbabwe. As far as these 14 countries are concerned in reality NEPAD is dead, human rights are not a matter of lip service but principle.
