Lunatics march in the Sudan.

November 30, 2007 Leave a comment

Thousands of idiotic lunatics have been marching in Khartoum calling for the execution of primary school teacher, Gillian Gibbons. What is it that appears to overtake rational thought and becomes mass hate? A child’s toy, a teddy bear because it was given the name mohammed by a child and thousands of insane beings scream hate and death. This is the country whose militias have been terrorizing Darfurians, so where were these people when the janjaweed militias were butchering villagers? No doubt this exhibition of hate has been stirred up by ignorant, extremist mullahs who have their own agenda. Maybe a withdrawal of British teachers from the Sudan, for the sake of their own safety might be in order since they may become the next target for hate.

Comments on the week’s news.

November 30, 2007 Leave a comment

What a week!  The media hacks get into anti-Labour mode by highlighting financial donations to the Labour Party some of which may have been illegal; the tabloids go for hanging and drawing Harriet Harman. An ex pat primary school teacher in the Sudan is sentenced 15 days in prison due to a name, she didn’t choose for a harmless teddy bear which some islamist fanatics interpreted as a wild beast, thus confirming fears that islamic belief is intolerant.  Notice is given of substantial rail fare increases for commuters. Doom and gloom merchants talk us into house price falls. Three bankers treated as heroes by Liberty confess to at least one charge in connection with the Enron case. 14 African presidents get bossy and tell the EU to let fascist Mugabe retain power at all costs and human rights doesn’t matter in Zimbabwe.

A Matter of Principle.

The forthcoming European Union – Africa Union Summit due to take place in Lisbon is bogged down in bitterness in regard to Mugabe’s expected appearance at the meeting. Some 14 African countries are instructing European leaders not to speak about conditions in Zimbabwe. Perhaps the time has come for 14 African presidents to realize human rights, good governance and democracy matters. They should be told that if they continue to block actions towards ending Mugabe’s rule in Zimbabwe they are not welcome to attend. There can be no compromise with dictatorship; these 14 countries enjoy international aid. Perhaps the time has come to stop aid going to states appeasing and supporting Mugabe’s fascist rule in Zimbabwe. As far as these 14 countries are concerned in reality NEPAD is dead, human rights are not a matter of lip service but principle.

The Union Flag

Any thoughts as to the redesign of the Union Flag is without doubt going to be controversial. Whilst we agree that there is an absence of Welsh symbolism in the flag perhaps rather than insert a Welsh dragon which demonizes dragons we would prefer to see the St. David’s gold cross next to the St.George’s Cross separated by a very thin black border. That should enhance the Union Flag into a colourful design.

Having spent a few days recently on business in Croydon, we are quite surprised at how the town has changed. Croydon by all appearances has become a prosperous town, growth is ongoing.

Any Questions? Any Point?

November 24, 2007 Leave a comment

There was a time when the BBC Radio programme Any Questions was interesting to listen to, not these days, this the age of cheap throwaway remarks for the slightest applause. The Any Answers programme follows up these pathetic displays of grandstanding with moron after moron moaning and whinging. One begins to wonder if anyone out there is left sane and normal Just to finish I gave up listening regularly to Any Questions sometime ago; I just happened to hear the broadcast today and never again.

Australia changes government.

November 24, 2007 Leave a comment

There was a time when we could get very excited about Labour Party victories anywhere, but sooner or later things never quite work out as promised. Whilst we welcome a new Labour Government in Australia we hope it will not disappoint its supporters but we suspect we hope in vain.

Funding the Armed Forces.

November 23, 2007 Leave a comment

The recent concerns expressed by former Armed Forces  chiefs deserve to be listened to with respect; they do have a point, it is normal for the cabinet post of Minister of Defence, Des Browne, to be solely that, Des Browne should not have responsibilites for Scotland and Defence, this concern needs to be addressed by the Prime Minister, who would be best advised to release Mr Browne from his Scottish post.  There is no doubt that the Armed Forces are over stretched, it may also be true that recruitment is not what it ought to be. If we wish our Armed Forces to engage overseas we should then ensure they are adequately provided for. Our Armed Forces personnel put their lives on the line and they should be provided with all the best equipment and their pay needs to be a satisfactory level. The Prime Minister has declared that the Armed Forces must compete with public services for money. we beg to disagree, Mr. Brown needs to rethink and make an effort to meet the demands of the Armed Forces.

Tabloid scum journos draw blood.

So the English football team lose a match against Croatia, not because the Croatians were the better team but due to a poor coach! Today the tabloid hacks and others turn their hatred on to the FA bosses. The common held belief that there are deeper causes of the crisis in English  football are disregarded, the players’ spoilt, wealthy lifestyles are overlooked. Steve McClaren will clearly walk away with a handsome pay off but was he just the fall guy, frankly, he did the best with what he had, he should not be blamed. Tabloid scum journos have now taken a more nasty course in using ageism against the FA bosses, no doubt the FA bosses do have some responsibility in regard to the mess in English football but why do we always think difficult issues can be resolved by resignations and do tabloid scum journos really have to get so unpleasant? The Croatian team  clearly was the better team we have to accept that players have a responsibilty to do their best – but then it is only a game.

Heathrow expansion – NO thanks.

November 22, 2007 Leave a comment

We do not feel there is any need to expand development at Heathrow airport, the place is a nightmare already; having escorted someone to departures yesterday at Terminal 3 we can only say we were disgusted by the state of the place. If the authorities at Heathrow cannot provide decent facilities now we cannot believe it will be any better with a Terminal 6. There is no lounge for passengers and others to sit and wait and the place is crowded with useless shops and entertainment facilities and a very expensive internet facility. The management at Terminal 3 should be ashamed of the mess they have made and the poor facilities they provide.
