We are rather alarmed about the possibility that the MDC may decide today or tomorrow to withdraw from the Presidential Campaign. We would view any withdrawal as a disaster. So many have suffered, so many have died at the hands of Muagbe’s zanu pf thugs and many are suffering now. Zimbabweans campaigning for an MDC victory, Zimbabweans ready to vote for Tsvangirai are showing great courage and we who believe in democracy no matter who we are should salute brave Zimbabweans who despite Mugabe’s terror campaign struggle on toward the ballot box.
There is no guarantee that if the MDC withdraw from the campaign the violence would stop on the contrary a jubilant fascist dictator Mugabe may well step up his terror campaign. There is a good chance Tsvangirai can still beat Mugabe despite the fact that there is no level playing field and there could be poll rigging.
We believe Zimbabweans who have shown great courage in the MDC campaign and are determined to vote Mugabe out need support from democrats everywhere – they are showing us what democracy is about and what it is for.
We hope the MDC leadership will hang on in there and continue the campaign, democracy must win.
