Ming goes.

October 16, 2007

The knives are out in the Liberal party once again, history repeats itself, it took some time before Kennedy the exSDP MP was sacked, Ming at least appears to have preferred the Roman sword quick death rather than weeks of is he or is he not going.  Running the Liberal party must really be quite difficult due to not knowing who is behind your back ready to plunge the knife. Fact is - is there really a need for the Liberal party - is it redundant?  Does it offer credible policies? Multi-party democracies need political parties, electors need choice and parties need to offer credible policies.  The Liberal party’s recent successes have been due in large to desertions of Labour voters troubled by the Iraq war and subsequent failures of policy in that country. As time passes, as we slowly disengage from Iraq, numbers of disillusioned Labour voters may return to the fold thus the Liberal party vote may decrease and the rump 60+ Liberal MPs may return to a more normal 16 Liberal MPs in the Commons. In some ways it’s a pity we don’t have a stronger Green party presence in the Commons: the Greeens tend to be a little more sincere rather than opportunistic.
